Code of Ethics
Training Required |
122 Days Left
The second training cycle for NAR's required
Code of Ethics Course will run through December 31, 2008.
Go to the NAR website to take the updated course
online. The course has been updated from the course offered during the
first cycle (2001-2004) by including all recent policy
changes/additions; adding new content, part of which are new case
studies.
The course can be completed in one session, or
completed in parts within 30 days from the start. After each Quick
Review Quiz, the course can be exited and started again with the next
lesson.
All REALTORS® must complete an
ethics course within this four-year cycle.
The Board will offer a live "ethics" class
on Friday, September 12, but you
can beat the last-minute rush by taking it online.

NAR Dues
Deductibility
Adjusted for 2008 |
|
The non-deductibility information on NAR dues
for 2008 posted in May 2008 has had to be adjusted due to a
large increase in the Government Affairs budget approved this
year by the NAR Board of Directors. NAR has increased its
lobbying and grassroots efforts to ensure that REALTOR®
interests are well represented, especially during this 2008
election year.
Accordingly, the 2008 nondeductible dues
computation has increased from the previously reported 22% (or
$18) to 31% (or $25) |

Quadrennial Code of
Ethics |
|
We will offer the Quadrennial
Code of Ethics Class for continuing education credit on Friday,
September 12th. This will be your best chance to take the course
in a live class during 2008. If you have not completed the
ethics course since 2004, you are REQUIRED by NAR to complete
the course for your membership to remain in good standing.
Contact the board office to
sign up. This will be a large class, so please register as early
as possible so we can assure adequate seating.

REALTOR®
Political
Action Committee
(RPAC) |
Why should I contribute to RPAC?
RPAC is the muscle behind NAR. RPAC represents over 400,000
politically active REALTORS® that members of Congress want as
their friends. Recent legislative and regulatory successes
include:
- The
continued preservation of the mortgage interest deduction.
- Tax
relief benefiting the real estate industry
-
Improving federal mortgage programs, allowing more families
to join the ranks of homeownership.
-
Eliminating burdensome regulations inhibiting environmental
quality and health real estate markets.
